A 1933 picture, when he was about 20

  His father, probably in the 1930s,
and his mother in her 90s... she lived to be just past 100!          

     A postcard showing Paul as a small boy, with his father. Thanks to George Gu for this translation: "On the upper-right hand corner it says, 'Lin Bai Jia's mansion faces the ocean. Its position enables him to enjoy the ultimate beauty of the vast water. The Gulf of Mexico is very well-known for its tranquil beauty, therefore many American celebrities and famous authors came to live here.'... Lower-left hand corner -- 'At his study, Lin Bai Jia is teaching his son the Chinese revolutionary history and its backgrounds.' Lin Bai Jia is the gentleman's name in the picture."

The only pictures I have of him with cats: in the 1956 snapshot on the left, he's holding Melanie, after whom C'mell was named, and Griselda.... in the 1957 photo, he's got Arabella.
